Gathering welcomes rival

Organisers of New Year's Eve dance party the Gathering say they welcome competition from a rival dance party, saying any rivalry, real or perceived, is healthy. "We are disappointed at the emphasis of recent Nelson Mail coverage on what has been termed a 'battle' between ourselves and the organisers of the Vision Party," a statement from the Gathering organisers said. "We feel the public's focus has been diverted away from the excitement of the party to come."
