Graffiti artists target then clean billboards
Giant billboards under construction at the entrance to Blenheim became a prime advertising spot for the country's biggest New Year's Eve dance party. On Sunday, two Nelson youths were forced to clean off graffiti, which said The Gathering, from the billboards, which will eventually welcome and farewell people entering and leaving the town.
Senior Constable Russell Smith, of the Blenheim police, said the pair, originally thought to have spray-painted the billboards, had made their mark in mud.
